Deleting your data — Kuma app
App concerned: Kuma — Contes d'Afrique Publisher: Ultimes Griots Group (UGG), SARL — 01 BP 6468 Abidjan 01, Côte d'Ivoire — RCCM CI-ABJ-2020-B-11777
You may at any time request the deletion of your Kuma account and the associated data, including that of child profiles. This page explains how to do so, what is deleted, and what we are required to retain.
How to request deletion
From the app — Settings → Account → Delete my account. The request is processed immediately.
By email — Write to editions@ultimesgriots.com from the email address of the parent account, with the subject “Kuma account deletion”. If you write from another address, state the address of the account concerned: we will ask you to confirm from that address, so that no one can have a third party’s account deleted.
We acknowledge receipt within 24 business hours and deletion takes effect within 30 days at the latest.
What is deleted
- The parent account: email address and authentication credentials.
- All linked child profiles: first name or nickname, age range, avatar.
- All progress: tales read or listened to, badges, reading statistics, favorites.
- App preferences and settings.
What may be retained, and why
- Billing records. We hold no banking data — subscriptions are collected by Apple and Google — but the transaction records provided by these platforms are retained to meet our accounting and tax obligations, for 10 years, the retention period for accounting records applicable in Côte d'Ivoire under OHADA accounting law.
- Aggregated and anonymized statistics (number of reads per tale, for example). They can no longer identify you or your child, and are therefore no longer personal data.
- Anonymized crash reports retained by Firebase Crashlytics for the service’s default retention period (90 days).
- Encrypted backups may contain residual copies of your data for a short period, until they are automatically overwritten by backup rotation.
Deleting some data without deleting the account
You can request the deletion of a single child profile while keeping the parent account and the other profiles. Same address, same timeframe: specify the profile concerned.
Your other rights
You may also request access to your data, its correction, or an exportable copy. Write to the same address. These rights are granted to you by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) if you reside in the European Union, and by Ivorian law on the protection of personal data. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the competent authority — ARTCI in Côte d'Ivoire, or the data protection authority of your country of residence in the European Union.
