African audio tales, one tale per country
The 54 contes d'Afrique podcast is free to listen to, in French: one traditional tale per country, about five minutes each, over thirty episodes. Stories of wisdom and animals, the ones told at bedtime, for children and for the adults who heard them when they were small.
🎵 One tale, one country
Each episode carries the name of its country of origin — Guinea, Benin, Burundi… — and tells a story handed down through generations. More than thirty countries are already covered, and the list keeps growing.

Frequently asked questions
Are the tales free?
Yes. Every episode is free to listen to on this page, on Spotify and on Apple Podcasts. The KUMA app adds illustrated tales read aloud, with a free first journey.
What language are the tales in?
In French. Each episode starts with the name of the country the tale comes from.
How long is a tale?
About five minutes for most episodes, between four and seven: the length of a bedtime story.
From what age?
The podcast is listed under “Kids & Family” on listening platforms. We recommend it from age 4, like our KUMA app; adults find the tales of their childhood in it.
Is there a tale from my country?
One tale per African country: more than thirty countries are already covered, and every new episode carries the name of its own. Under each episode, a link leads to the collection that contains that country.
Are these tales in the 54 Contes d'Afrique books?
The books follow the same principle, one illustrated tale per country, but they are separate catalogues: you will not necessarily find the same stories in both. The book for bedtime, the podcast for the car.
