Mbobog – the royal astronomer
Name: M’BOBOG
Age: 93
Caste: Man of Science
Role: Royal Astronomer
Kingdom: Jegu, KURUFUGA
Totem: Crocodile
Likes: Traveling, telling tales to children
Born on the banks of the Noun River, Mbobog showed an extraordinary aptitude for science from a very young age. He was spotted by Mémé Komian, guardian of the Maat, during a diplomatic mission. She made him her protégé, and the young boy packed his bags for Kurufuga, an eloko (country) far from his native city.
At 15, Mbobog drew attention after developing an alternative to whirlwind travel. He had just perfected quantum travel through the ingestion of a solution made from Iboga root. This feat earned him admission to the famous university of ancestral sciences and engineering of Abomey.
There, he specialized in astronomy, then in medicine. Passionate about research, he gave everything up and set off on a journey around the world to deepen his knowledge. 40 years before our story, Mbobog was appointed to the prestigious post of royal astronomer and came back to settle in Kurufuga.
In addition to his duties, he volunteers to teach tales and legends to the 1st seven-year cycle class. He uses it to spot young talent, but also to take his mind off things and cut himself off from the world of adults. Indeed, since his appointment, Mbobog often seems tormented and absent. As if he had to carry a heavy burden…
That’s all the information we can reveal for now. As the Kurufuga saying goes: “Not everything is good to say at any time.”
